Huge invalid traffic deduction on AdSense this month

Just woke up and checked my balance and google shaved off almost forty percent under invalid traffic. Most of my visitors come from organic facebook shares and google search so this makes no sense to me. Has anyone managed to appeal this or is the money just gone for good?
