AdSense invalid traffic warning after sudden spike

My site got a huge traffic jump from social media yesterday and now AdSense is showing a policy violation for invalid traffic. Does anyone know if this usually leads to a permanent ban or just a temporary ad limit? I am really worried about losing my account.
